Susan Fowler, the previous Uber software program engineer whose viral blog alleging systemic sexism and harassment prompted the corporate to launch an inside investigation, on Tuesday referred to as that investigation “all optics.” Fowler's criticism got here after Uber launched the findings of that probe, outlining dozens of suggestions that the ride-hail big's board says it plans to implement. The corporate final week mentioned it investigated greater than 200 claims of harassment and discrimination, amongst different allegations, and fired 20 people.

Liane Hornsey, Uber's chief human assets officer, spoke to staff at an all-hands assembly on Tuesday announcing the report's findings. She thanked Fowler through the assembly for being a catalyst for change on the firm.

Fowler didn’t return a request for remark from BuzzFeed Information.

Days after Fowler's weblog printed on February 19, Uber chief govt Travis Kalanick met with greater than 100 feminine engineers on the firm. Through the assembly, he promised “credible, thorough justice” through an internal investigation by former Attorney General Eric Holder. Kalanick was grilled by the group, who urged him to start “listening to your personal folks,” in line with an audio recording obtained by BuzzFeed News. “Everybody who’s in these rooms now … believes that there’s a systemic downside right here,” one other participant mentioned, prompting applause.

On Sunday, Uber's board unanimously voted to adopt all suggestions from the Holder report, which we've outlined here.
